Accepted proposed text from the U.S. Deferred decision of sharing independent evaluations Reg I/8 – Quality Standards Accepted proposed text from the U.S. – Clarifying provisions on the scope of the independent evaluation & provisions for the reports. Reg I/9 – Medical standards – Issue and registratio of certificates Develop medical standards of fitness (ILO/WHO/IMO/IMHA) Develop guidance for medical certificate

Discussed the need to conduct an evaluation of another Party’s certification system. Reg I/11 – Revalidation of certificates Requirements for revalidation training deferred to STW40. Reg I/12 – Use of simulators Distance learning and e-learning moved to B-I/6 Guidance on ECDIS in section B-I/12 Reg I/14 – Responsibility of companies Each seafarer duly qualified Seafarers have adequate refresher and updating training

VIII/2 – Watchkeeping arrangements and principles to be observed Moving section B-VIII/2, part 3-1 to section A-VIII/2 ECDIS

15 Chapter VIII- Alcohol Iran’s proposal to move Bulgaria’s 39/7/18 proposal (new regulation) into a new subchapter of Regulation VIII/1 (Fitness for duty) was supported.
