3. charcoal Charcoal is made from burnt pieces of wood.
There are four kinds of charcoal you will use in class

4. Vine Charcoal This is used for sketching
It can be erased with your fingers
It is very lightweight

5. Powder Charcoal
This is a dust like charcoal which is used for laying ground. It gives the paper a light grey background

6. Compressed Charcoal This charcoal make a darker mark.
It is harder to ease.
We use this for shading.

7. White Charcoal This is a white charcoal used for highlights
Make sure you erase before applying white charcoal
