3 charcoal Charcoal is made from burnt pieces of wood.
There are four kinds of charcoal you will use in class

4 Vine Charcoal This is used for sketching
It can be erased with your fingers It is very lightweight

5 Powder Charcoal This is a dust like charcoal which is used for laying ground. It gives the paper a light grey background

6 Compressed Charcoal This charcoal make a darker mark.
It is harder to ease. We use this for shading.

7 White Charcoal This is a white charcoal used for highlights
Make sure you erase before applying white charcoal
