What’s a lapbook? A lap book generally consists of a paperboard folder such as a file folder with small pieces of folded paper glued inside. These folded papers may contain facts, diagrams, illustrations, etc. related to a subject. Lapbooks can be adapted for any subject and grade level.

Instructions to make your lapbook
Let’s watch some videos that can help you to understand the way you can work on a lapbook. You have to be creative so that you use different ways to present the information about the story you are reading in class.

Pair Work Activity 1: Go to page 52, read the information about the author of the book. Rewrite it in order to present it in a very creative way in the lapbook. Example:

“The Christmas Presents”
Activity 1: Draw or print four images to represent the story. Write a sentence explaining the meaning of the picture in the story. Activity 2: Choose 6 important facts from this story and create a crossword puzzle Example:

“Soapy’s Choice” Activity 1: Write 4 important quotes representing Soapy’s wishes in life. Use creative ways to present them.

Activity 2: Create a word search with the following words: prison, winter, square, restaurant, seat, trousers, shop window, policeman, unhappy, coat, umbrella, mistake, church, music, mother , friends, work. You must add 5 more words connected to the story

“A Walk in Amnesia” Activity 1: Create three short dialogues that represent the conversations between Doctor Volney and his friend Elwyn Bellford in three different times: -Before Elwyn “lost” his memory -During the amnesia. -After Elwyn recovered his memory Activity 2: Make a drawing of a newspaper with the news about Bellford’s disappearance

“Tildy’s moment” Write a summary of this story and add two pictures representing it. Example:

The Memento Make a comic representing the story . Use at least five pictures. Remember to add sentences or short dialogues to the pictures.
