10 Challenges we face as we work toward our VISION
New reforms have changed board operations, superintendent responsibilities, and accountability system. Louisiana Student State Standards and LEAP assessments widened the achievement gap for our students and teachers. LDOE Assessments have forced school district to update all technology and infrastructure. Funding is very limited. Although we are a small school system, the work load and responsibilities are the same as larger school districts. Inadequate teacher pay. Inadequate community support and interest in the school district with regard to curriculum and instruction.

19 Project Goal St. Helena Parish School District seeks to improve student achievement by implementing 1:1 Technology in all our classrooms through the use of portable laptop carts in every classroom. This project will help begin the process by providing all 5th and 6th grade students with a laptop.
