FDS500 A Read > Lead > Achieve Initiative

3 What is FDS500? Thanks to a grant from Pi Beta Phi Foundation.
Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women is a nearly 150-year old international organization that promotes community service, personal development and intellectual growth. We have 140 active chapters and more than 250 alumnae clubs across the nation and Canada. FDS500 is the name given to the grant from the Pi Beta Phi Foundation to pay for 500 books from the First Book® Marketplace, including shipping and handling. The Literacy Fund is the branch of the Pi Beta Phi Foundation that supports all of the Fraternity’s literacy efforts, including FDS500 and Fraternity Day of Service. Fraternity Day of Service is celebrated on or around March 2 (Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America Day) to encourage our members to make an impact in their communities through literacy service. A Pi Beta Phi alumnae club or collegiate chapter can nominate a local non-profit that is registered with First Book (the organization must have a First Book account to be able to access and order from the Marketplace) to receive this grant. Part of Fraternity Day of Service.

4 What do I need to do next? www.firstbook.org/register
Make sure you’re registered as a First Book recipient group. Takes 5-10 minutes. You work for a program where at least 70% of children come from low-income families. In order to access the Marketplace, you will need to be a registered First Book recipient group. It takes just a few minutes to sign up, if you don’t have a log-in already and it’s a self-report process. You don’t need a tax ID number. Many different organizations qualify and multiple teachers from the same school can register too! Allows you access to not just Pi Phi’s promotion, but many other opportunities through First Book!

5 I’ve used the Marketplace before…
Your promo code will only work in the Pi Beta Phi branded boutique page of the Marketplace. If you select books outside of the boutique page, your promo code will not cover the cost of those books. Only books selected within the boutique page will be covered 100%, including shipping and handling. We’ll walk through how to navigate the boutique page next.

6 How do I select my books? First you will need to log in to your account. This will take you to your Dashboard. Then go to Reminder: Your promo code will only work in this special boutique page of the Marketplace. 3. Select your books!

7 Navigating the boutique page
There are a few ways to navigate the boutique page. 1. You can narrow down the age range, price range or product range on the left. This will limit the titles you see to only those that fall in these categories.

8 Navigating the boutique page
2. If you select a title to look at the details or to add more than one of the title to your cart, you can click: a. the back button, or b. the link “Pi Phi FDS500” to return to the boutique page. Reminder: Do not click on the First Book icon, any of the links on the blue navigation bar, the link in the top left or the link “Home.” These will not take you back to the boutique page and you may be charged for books in your cart!

9 About the promo code Worth $750. Only works once. Non-transferable.
Titles in the boutique page range $0.95-$1.99. Your promo code is worth $750. Your promo code will only work ONE time. Be certain you are done shopping before checking out. Only 100 recipient groups were invited to this promotion, so please do not share the code with any of your colleagues or friends, or you will deprive another group that was nominated of the opportunity. It's possible that you could select only $1.99 books and get 376 books. It's also possible that you could purchase only $0.99 books and get 735 books. Our goal is to get to as close to 500 books as possible, this was the most efficient way to do this.

10 Selecting books The easiest way to select books is using the specially curated collections from First Book. Select two collections and your 500 book selection is complete! You will have some funds left over, depending which collections you select, so feel free to use that as well. Reminder: the code only works once!

11 Selecting books When you mouse over a title, an “Add to Cart” button will appear. If you click this button, it will add a single title to your cart. This can be a tedious process if you’re selecting 500 titles this way! Instead, click on the title and you can update the quantity to add to your cart. That way you can order multiple of the same title. You can also update quantities from your cart page. Don’t forget to use the back button or “Pi Phi FDS500” link to return to the boutique page.

12 Checking out From the Marketplace page, you can select the blue Cart button. From the Shopping Cart page, select the green Proceed to Checkout Button.

13 Checking out Work with your nominating alumnae club or chapter to determine where the books should be delivered. Many clubs and chapters like to formally present you with the titles as part of their Fraternity Day of Service celebration and so may want the books delivered to a chapter house or alumna member’s house. Otherwise the books can be delivered directly to you. Enter the promo code. As long as you’ve selected books only from the Pi Beta Phi branded boutique page, your total will be zero. Finally click Place Order Now.

14 Final notes Watch your in the next week for the promo code from First Book. Books orders take 2-3 weeks to process and ship. First Book will begin processing orders as soon as they receive them. Inventory is based on availability – so order sooner rather than later! Board books are most popular and will be snapped up quickly.
