Richard Johnson, Head of Quality, Safety and Compliance, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust explains what difference the document library has made: “This electronically held data source has significantly reduced the issues seen in the organisation - ensuring the most current versions are used, and easy access for all staff to this information. This has significantly reduced the cost of maintaining this information. Also, more importantly, it has brought to life the standards of care that the organisation looks to continually improve upon.” Implementation tips: Set up a group consisting of your qualified health librarian, clinician, information governance representative and IT representative to devise a solution Review in-house software solutions e.g. Intranet content management system, Sharepoint Designate your qualified librarian as “guardian” of the locally agreed guidance and protocols and give them responsibility to for managing the collection Clinical Guidelines KM Story See also the Knowledge Asset Postcard For further information see the KM Toolkit
