7.8 Multiplying Polynomials
Algebra 10.0
2
Main Idea You will have many polynomials that are being multiplied and will need to use exponent rules. Don’t use the exponent rules on the coefficients!

Ex 1- Multiplying Monomials
Monomial Products: 1) Multiply regular numbers 2) Add the exponents with the same base

Ex 3 Multiplying a Binomial and a Binomial
You use the distributive property twice. (x + 3)(x + 2) There are two methods you can use to multiply a binomial by a binomial. BINOMIAL BY BINOMIAL PRODUCTS: FOIL (the most common for binomial products) Punnett Square (can be used for any polynomial product) You can use either method. Know how to use both.

Review When multiplying monomials what do you do with the exponents, bases and coefficients? When multiplying a polynomial by a monomial what property do you use? When multiplying binomials what methods can you use? When multiplying polynomials what method works better?
