1. Dismantling and cleaning (*) Babylog VN500
Neonatal flow sensor:
Disconnect plug (A) of the flow sensor cable from the neonatal flow sensor; gently press the knobs (B) on both sides while pulling the insert (C) out of the flow sensor housing; pull the flow sensor housing (D) out of the ISO (or Y) piece.
Disinfection by soaking in a conventional disinfecting solution.
Rinse by water immersion and dry in ambient air (sensor in vertical position).
Do not use swabs, spray tap, nor air gun (the filaments of the sensor do not support physical contact).
Neonatal expiratory valve:
Turn the locking ring (A) as far as possible to the left; remove the neonatal expiratory valve from the fitting; remove the muffler (B) from the neonatal expiratory valve; remove the diaphragm (C) (do not dismantle the diaphragm) and the collection container from the water trap (D).
Wash off visible soiling under running water or with commercially cleaning available agents based on mild alkaline compounds. Use cleaning agents in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Always carry out hot steam sterilization of the expiratory valve at (134°C – °F) after cleaning and disinfection.

2. Assembling parts (*) Babylog VN500
Neonatal expiratory valve :
Fit the muffler (B) to the neonatal expiratory valve
Fit the diaphragm (A) onto the edge of the neonatal expiratory valve housing.
Fit the collection container for the water trap (C).
Open the flap (D).
Turn the locking ring (D) as far as possible to the left; push the expiratory valve into the fitting; turn the locking ring (D) as far as it will go to the right until it clicks audibly into place.
Neonatal flow sensor :
Fit the insert (C), by gently pressing the knobs (B) on both sides, to the flow sensor housing (D)
Insert the neonatal flow sensor (D) into the patient connector to the ISO (or Y) piece (E)
Connect plug (A) of the flow sensor cable to the flow sensor E
