CREATIVE WRITING: TASK Example: I have a sister.
DESCRIPTIVE WRITING Sometimes when you say or write something, there isn’t enough information, so the other person will ask you to elaborate. But sometimes we don’t need more information—more sentences—we need more details (more adjectives). Example: I have a sister. Elaborate: I have a sister. She is a nurse. She lives in Canada. Descriptive: I have a short sister. She is a travelling pediatric nurse. She lives with my parents in Quebec, Canada.

CREATIVE WRITING: TASK
DESCRIPTIVE WRITING Read these, and tell me what countries you think they are: This country has a fairly small population, just 16 million, but its area is huge. It is located in the southern hemisphere and the capital is Canberra. The people are mainly from Europe but there are also aborigines. People live in towns and on the coast, not so much inland because it is so hot. They live a lot of their lives outdoors and enjoy sports, swimming and having barbecues. This country exports wool – it has more than 60 million sheep! A good place to visit is Ayers rock. This is a huge rock in the middle of the country surrounded by springs and ancient paintings. This country is in the southern tip of Africa. The capital is Pretoria and the population is about 45 million. Of these, 80% are black and 10% white. It has a long coastline and a warm climate. Either it never rains or it rains a lot! It is the world’s biggest producer of gold and it exports diamonds, too. It grows a lot of fruit, including oranges, pears and grapes. In the game reserves you can see a lot of wildlife, including lions, elephants, zebras and giraffes.
