1 Winds of Change

2 Network of networks of international health
Global Health Network Network of networks of international health collaborations The Global heath network is designed to link together Information Technology with Global health. We also need to recognize that Global health is interdisciplinary with people from engineering, public health, anthropology, physics, law, who are needed as much if not more than clinicians. Marrying IT and Global Health

3 How can we best improve Global Health?
Prevention Knowledge Prevent Multiple diseases Apply in many places world wide Proven Effectiveness Cheap Sustainable We would argue that the Internet and Prevention Education is the pathway towards improved global health. A system like this has all the characteristics needed to improve health in that it attacks multiple diseases, it is wide spread, it is powerfully effective, it is inexpensive and sustainable.

4 Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
Nelson Mandela We need to bring powerful systems to change the health of the world. IT is one such system.

5 If Cars Developed as Same Pace as IT
             100,000 km/hr 250,000 km/liter Cost = $5.00

6 Global Health Network Network everyone in prevention world wide

7 The core to our work has been the building of a Supercourse. This is a global network of leaders in global health who have banded together to share prevention powerpoint lectures among themselves, and the world.

9 How can we improve Prevention education worldwide?
Question: How can we improve Prevention education worldwide? Answer: The concept of the Supercourse is simple To improve the teaching of epidemiology, global health and the Internet in medical, veterinary, nursing schools one can improve the lectures. Get better lectures

10 What is the global language of research, technology, business and teaching?

11 Helping Teachers

12 29,000 Faculty 151 Countries Global Health Network
The Supercourse has risen beyond our dreams. Currently we have over 20,400 scientists who have joined from 151 countries.

13 template lectures help?
Who will template lectures help? Experienced teachers New Educators The “boiler plate” lectures will help those who are experienced teachers to present in different areas. The burden of lecture preparation is reduced such that instead of taking 16 or more hours to prepare a new lecture, it takes less than 2 hours, and the lecture is much better. It will especially help the new teacher. One of the most traumatic days in life is teaching one’s first class. New teachers spend weeks preparing the first lecture, and it still is usually poor. Why can not they use the template lectures of experienced teachers?

14 Last Biomedical Journal
University of Khartoum, Sudan Last Biomedical Journal 1990 Our major concern when starting this effort was developing countries. Many universities in developing countries have not had a new journal in 15 years. Cuttington University, Liberia

15 Lectures 2252 We currently have an amazing number of 2200 lectures. This is equivalent to about 200 books.

18 $0.01/Student Cost Effectiveness 20,000 students x 5 yrs.
100,000 students trained $1000/100,000 The actually cost per view is extremely cost effective. $0.01/Student

20 Reaching the Unreached

21 Mirrored Server Lahore, Pakistan Pittsburgh
We are providing copies (mirrors) of the course for free. These will be regularly updated. The mirrors are important as they speed the image transmission. Also having the copies on ones computer will increase usage.

22 Supercourse Mirror Sites
The copies of the course are proliferating rapidly, with over 30 now spread across the world. 45 Mirrored Sites, MOH Egypt, Sudan, Mongolia, UK China, Russia
