System Status: Option 1 Map is a cartoon and content no really exploitable More space for themes and status tables
11
System Status: Option 2 Map included as a background and themes placed all around, more exploitable To optimize space, use transparency e.g. fading on the map borders

Sample themes … Climate/seasonal models & forecasts
ENABLE SEASONAL FORECASTS …. Forecasts made recently available through ocean-atmosphere coupled models, using in-situ and satellite observations, can be used to shape economic strategies (fisheries, agriculture, finance, insurance, energy). Climate/seasonal models & forecasts Consequences of heat waves. Dried up corn field in Philippines. ADAPT TO CLIMATE CHANGE … Gathering global subsurface observations, of highest quality, on a long time scale, is critical to predict impact of climate changes on communities and nations. Climate/seasonal models & forecasts Warming trend … African continent desertification MITIGATE DISASTERS … Extreme weather events (Hurricanes, ice-storms, record rainfalls, floods, droughts, tsunamis, etc) cause loss of life and enormous burden on insurance industry. Disasters … Hurricane Katrina …
