1 Swansfield Park Primary Vision
Sharing our vision for a primary school

2 Our values Children – potential to reach their goals
Community – safe, supportive place Learning style – inclusive, engaging, challenging, independent learning Partnerships – creative partners, the Friends, community events Staff – inspiring, challenging, caring Children’s learning at the heart of our community Ref: Strategic Plan October 2014

3 How key stages work Early years foundation stage
Key stage 1 – Year 1 (National Phonics check) – Year 2 (National SATs tests) Key stage 2 – Year 3 – Year 6 (National SATs tests) In Northumberland’s three tier model children are moving schools in the middle of a key stage on two occasions – change of environment, staff, standards and the need to settle in to a whole new school with only a limited time to work with them to ensure all support is in place for them to do their best at Year 6 SATs and at GCSE.

4 We believe Primary will deliver
Less disruption to children – working with a staff team who have known their whole learning journey, in a supportive environment they know, with high expectations they understand. Realise their potential in results at Year 6 SATs – proven record in delivering learning tailored to the individual child with an excellent staff team who know the children, their families and their needs. Inspiring staff – we will recruit even more excellent staff to lead the development of the upper Key Stage 2 team. We appoint only the best because of our reputation, results and opportunities for those staff to develop their career. Providing new challenges – in partnership with parents, carers and the children we will design and deliver an exciting curriculum from nursery to Year 6. This will encourage academic excellence, citizenship, responsibility and leadership roles in school as well as providing new challenges in sport, music and the arts.

5 Details …… We plan to offer purpose built buildings with flexible studio spaces. We will develop sport facilities and extend our outdoor vision to challenge all our children. We will keep the school name, uniform and our valued child centred approach to learning. We will have to consider the times of the school day and the daily organisation. We will continue to develop age appropriate expectations for behaviour for learning. We will continue to deliver a rigorous yet motivating curriculum, built upon quality first hand experiences, both in school and through educational visits – ref Ofsted As part of the leadership team, the governors are ready to take on the challenge of continuing to provide an outstanding environment for our children to thrive in.

6 We will listen to the children. We will listen to you.
Our Primary Pledge We will listen to the children. We will listen to you. Our Community, Our Vision, Our School
