13 Where Can I Link to GALILEO?
Subject guides / LibGuides Handouts Promotional materials Your library or media center website Content/Learning/Course Management System Communications to users Chat/ reference Announcements Blog posts

14 Link to GALILEO Use the main GALILEO link http://www.galileo.usg.edu
Authentication Recognizes IPs to allow on-site users direct access Prompts for the GALILEO password for off-site users

15 Link to Pages in GALILEO
Each page in GALILEO is a persistent link that is bookmarkable Note that these links are unique to your institution

16 Link to Subject Pages

17 Link to Type Pages

18 Link to Databases Express Links
Link users directly to one database Authentication works like main GALILEO link Clicks count towards your institution’s GALILEO statistics GLRI databases also have Express Links See all Express Links under Databases A-Z > Express Links See the Express Link for an individual database by clicking the more>> link Note Express Link policies

19 Link to Journals and Magazines
Two ways: Journals A-Z or Magazines A-Z – use the Capture Citation or URL on SFX/Find It menu Publication record in the database (e.g., Academic Search Complete, MasterFILE Elite, or MAS Ultra) for some vendors

20 Link to Journals and Magazines
Through Journals A-Z or Magazines A-Z, use the Capture Citation or URL link at the bottom of the SFX/Find It menu Best to use the SFX link when you have a title with coverage in several databases If we have turned on GLRI databases in SFX, these will come up in a Journals A-Z search

21 Link to Journals and Magazines
Publication record in the database (e.g., Academic Search Complete, MasterFILE Elite, or MAS Ultra) for some vendors Can use the link from the database when you have coverage in only one database or two databases with the same coverage because the link from the publication record requires fewer clicks for the user

22 Link to Journals and Magazines
Publication record in the database (e.g., Academic Search Complete, MasterFILE Elite, or MAS Ultra) for some vendors Freebie tip: You can create an alert to receive notifications when a new issue of a magazines or journal is added to a database. You can do this in EBSCO and in ProQuest.

23 Link to Articles Use the persistent link in the article’s citation information Permalink in EBSCO databases (e.g., MAS Ultra, MasterFILE Elite, Academic Search Complete) or in discovery searches Document URL in ProQuest (e.g., Research Library) Link in the preformatted citation in Britannica resources Persistent Link or Bookmark in Digital Library of Georgia

24 Link to Searches Save a link to a search in Discover GALILEO
Freebie Tip: you can also set up a search alert to receive notifications when a new article matching your search is added. This feature works the same if you are in an EBSCO database.

25 Logos and Buttons GALILEO and several vendors provide their logos or other graphics that can be used on websites as buttons See our FAQ for links to sites

26 Search Boxes Embed the Discover GALILEO search box

27 Search Boxes Several vendors allow you to create widgets or search boxes that you can add to your library or media center website Note that you will need to add the GALILEO proxy to allow off-site access to work See GALILEO FAQs for instructions EBSCO Britannica Check with other vendors to see what they offer Contact Us if you need any assistance creating these
