Norway is a narrow country in the north of Europe
Norway is a narrow country in the north of Europe. It is the 6th largest country in Europe. It is located to the left of Sweden. The Norwegian Sea lies on the west coast of Norway. It has the longest coastline in Europe. It is almost five times as big as Ireland, but there is very little difference in the population of both countries. The population of Ireland is 4.7 million people and the population of Norway is only 5.3 million. Oslo is the capital city of Norway and is situated in the south-east of the country.

Fjords Norway is famous for it’s many fjords. A fjord is a long, narrow, deep inlet of sea between high cliffs caused by glacial erosion. Norway’s coastline has an estimated length of 29,000km, but is only around 2,500km when fjords are excluded.

Weather in Norway From late June to early August the weather is at its warmest and it never seems to get really dark. As soon as summer gets a firm grip on Norway, you’ll see the locals out and about to enjoy the sun after a long and cold winter, barbecuing in the parks and generally just soaking up the rays. Late June to early August is when summer is at its peak, with temperatures that can reach 25°C–30°C. At the same time there is hardly any humidity in the air, and even at night temperatures can remain high. The further north you go, beyond the Arctic Circle, the more nights of midnight sun you will be able to experience in the summer.
9
The Land of the Midnight Sun
The north of Norway is often called ‘The Land of the Midnight Sun.’ It was given this nickname because during the summer months, the sun lights up the sky for 24 hours a day. As a result of Norway’s location in the Arctic Circle, it faces the sun during summer months. In winter, the opposite happens and the north of Norway never gets bright. In winter much of Norway is usually transformed into a snow-clad paradise, but harsh winters can be both dark and cold in places, especially in areas higher up or farther north.
10
Weather in Norway Winter nights are long and dark in all of Norway, and in midwinter even well south of the Arctic Circle, the sun may not rise high enough to clear the surrounding mountains. The average temperature in winter months in Oslo would be -3ºCelsius and 18ºCelsius in summer months.

Weather in Norway In the Northern city of Karasjok, the average temperature for December 2016 was -10ºCelsius and 14ºCelsius in July 2016.
