5. Compulsory School Going Age
In terms of SASA Section 3(1), school attendance is compulsory for all learners from the first school day of the year the learner reaches the age of seven years until the last school day of the year in which the learner reaches the age of
fifteen or the ninth grade, whichever comes first.
Children are not compelled to attend school until the year in which they turn 7 years old.
Therefore we start

Grade “R” is not compulsory – SGB apply to WCED
