2 Born As a Slave Born around Valentines Day, 1818
Since he was a slave he traveled a lot but spent most of his childhood in Tuckahoe, Maryland. Frederick was only 8 when his mother died Even though he was a slave and he was African-American his father was white.

3 Determined To Learn When Frederick became a house slave his masters wife taught him how to read, but his master found out and made his wife stop teaching him Frederick still wanted to learn so he continued to read and write As he got older and continued reading he wanted to escape slavery.

4 Becomes an Abolitionist
At 16 years old he ran away from slavery When he ran away to the north he became an abolitionist and spoke out against slavery. He was one of the people that helped end slavery.

5 I look up To him because…
I think Frederick Douglas was very brave. He was brave because he ran away from slavery and spoke out about it when his master was trying to hunt him down He encouraged me to do things even if people are against me.
