1 PARCC Research Simulation Task
Mr. Campione

2 What is a Research Simulation Task?
Research Simulation tasks involve the gathering and inclusion of important information from several texts in various media formats on a particular topic or question. In other words, citing information from various texts or videos to help support your response. Research simulation tasks include taking notes, as providing a list of sources.

3 Sources of Information
Sources for the task can include quotes from: Videos Articles about a Topic Readings Primary Source (or written as a first hand account)

4 Objective Objective: Write a 3-paragraph PARCC Research Simulation Task response, using 3 of the 7 characteristics of a civilization we discussed, to explain how Ancient Sumer was a civilization. Use quotes from the textbook, The Sumerian Times Reading, and History of a Civilization Video provided to you in order to cite evidence to support. Two quotes are mandatory in your response.

5 Citing Example Example: In Sumer, the Sumerians created an irrigation system to help produce a stable food supply. “The Sumerians built networks of canals, dams, and reservoirs to provide their crops with a regular supply of water” (Textbook page 43). Without water, the crops would not be able to grow and there would not be a stable food supply. Any information you use from the texts or videos need to be in quotes with source in parenthesizes.

6 Example For example: 1st paragraph: Introduce 3 characteristics you will discuss 2nd Paragraph: Describe 3 characteristics of Ancient Sumer you chose to show Sumer is a civilization, 3rd Paragraph: Restate 3 topics you discussed (Conclusion)
