6 HOW… Language used in the text. How is an image created?
What is the tone/ mood being created? Which language devices are used and why? How is punctuation and sentence length effective?

7 What… Reading between the lines
What do you learn about the characters/ setting etc What can you infer from the information you are given? What is implicit/ explicit?

8 Read the questions carefully and make sure you comment on the right bit!
Last year, a lot of marks were lost as students were not answering the question properly!

9 Read through Wuthering Heights from last week
How does the writer show Heathcliff’s despair and frustration? Look at: Language techniques used Sentence forms and punctuation Remember to include quotations

11 Read the text… Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. 17 Plan! Write down some descriptive words to start with
Think of the opposite word Eg: peaceful- chaotic

18 Write a couple of paragraphs
Use the devices you found in the piece. Think about your style of writing Use The Timekeeper as a template

22 PUT YOUR ‘PLAN’ ON THE CORRECT TABLE
PICK A SEASON LOOK AT THE PLANS PICK YOUR FAVOURITE WORDS AND EXAMPLES OF LANGUAGE WRITE THEM IN YOUR BOOKS

23 IMAGINE… You are going to ‘paint a picture’ with your words
Write a description as if you are flying over the top of the scene and describe what happens as you go Use some of the devices you chose
