Ho Chi Minh achieved goal of negotiating from point of strength! The Geneva Accords: 1954 peace settlement that divided Vietnam into two separate nations along the 17th parallel (also divided Korea) USSR, US, France, Britain and China Ended French occupation (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia = independent) Ho Chi Minh became president of the new Communist North Vietnam. Ngo Dinh Diem became president of the anti-Communist South Vietnam (aided by Emperor Bao Dai) Elections were supposed to be held in 1956 to unify Vietnam, but South Vietnam refused and it remained divided. This “solution” led directly to U.S. occupation and the Vietnam War

Include: Clear, summarized description of the operation Any key tactical, strategic, technological developments Ending and effects of the event May use phones to complete extra research as needed. Topics correlate to the operations on the worksheet. The class will fill these in as notes during the presentations so make sure you’re able to explain the event clearly!
