1 News From The Principal
December Rose Hill Rambler News From The Principal Ms. Pettis’ Third Gr Class News I think winter is finally upon us! The cold weather is here so please take time to talk with your child about dressing appropriately for the cold weather. We will go outside for recess unless the weather does not permit or the wind chill is below zero. Each year, our Rose Hill families and staff help several families have a special holiday through our giving tree! If you haven’t already, stop by the office and pick an ornament off the giving tree or ask us how you can help a family in need. We are so blessed to be a part of such an amazing, caring community! Rose Hill’s winter concert is on December 15th at 9:30am and at 1:30pm. Our students are working hard to learn several songs for your enjoyment. Our program theme this year is Let It Snow! There will be fun songs and art work, centered around this theme, that you won’t want to miss! Report cards will go home on December 22! Please take a few minutes to look through and discuss the report card with your child/children! It’s amazing to see all the progress our students make towards their goals! If you have any questions regarding your child’s report card, please do not hesitate to ask. Winter break is December 25 – January 8, There is no school on Monday, January 8. School will resume on Tuesday, January 9, 2018! My hope is that you spend some quality time with family and friends over the break and you take some time to check out a local library or museum! What a great way to spend an afternoon…. reading! Make sure you continue reading over the holiday break! December is a fun time of year full of giving and helping each other! Thanks again for all your support of Rose Hill and our community! Rose Hill School is an amazing place to be! I hope everyone has a happy holiday and a blessed new year! I wish only the best for you and your family in 2018! Have a safe and relaxing break! Happy Winter! Tylee Hanson, Principal Third grade is looking forward to the month of December! We have so many exciting things in store. We have been practicing for the winter program and we are looking forward to performing. In December, we will begin a unit of study on Lewis and Clark. Hopefully we will be able to visit the Lewis and Clark Landing for a future field trip! We are currently in the middle of reading Rump. Ask your child about what has been happening in our story. We hope to make this a December to remember! Mark YOUR Calendars…… Rose Hill Rams are preparing to present our winter program "Let It Snow!" to you!  The kids are very excited.  I'm sure some of you have heard them singing their songs at home already.  Please join us on December 15th for a performance at 9:30 am and another performance at 1:30 pm.  We can't wait! IMPORTANT INFO

2     fourth grade recently participated in a Math Competition held at Marrs Magnet Center.  They had been preparing for the competition with their Math Team Coach, Sharon Flinn.        Since Ms. Flinn had an out-of-town commitment, Ms. Hanson (Rose Hill principal) and Mrs. Deanna Moisset (GATE Program Administrator) met       A Note from Ms. Joerger Rose Hill Counselor I Wonder if We Could All Be Kind…. Recently it was our privilege to take the 4th and 5th graders to see the new movie, WONDER. It is the story of a young boy with a facial disfiguration that transforms and teaches those around him to change from bullying behavior to kind behavior. It is a lesson that resonated deeply with all of us. Here are the best quotes and lessons from the movie… “In a world where you can be anything…be kind” “When given the choice between being right or being kind… choose KIND.” “It is not enough to be friendly. You have to be a friend.” Third grade cannot believe how fast this year is going! We are looking forward to all of the exciting things that will be happening in the month of December. In Math, we have been working on multiplication and division. In Science, we just finished a unit on vertebrates and invertebrates. In Reading, we are working on building our reading stamina and fluency. We are taking a field trip to the SAC Museum at the end of the month. Third grade hopes that everyone enjoys their winter break and will see you in the New Year. Ms.Sahner’s 3rd Gr Four Rose Hill students in fourth grade recently participated in a Math Competition held at Marrs Magnet Center.  They had been preparing for the competition with their Math Team Coach, Sharon Flinn.        Since Ms. Flinn had an out-of-town commitment, Ms. Hanson (Rose Hill principal) and Mrs. Deanna Moisset (GATE Program Administrator) met the boys at Marrs and proctored them.  The boys in the Math Club are: Joe Haley, Lochlan Vaughan, Jordan Price, Say Tha Yu Moo, and Tavion Samuel-Champaigne.       The boys had a great time and experienced (for the first time) what it feels like to participate in a competition such as this.  They hope to compete in future events of this kind, so the experience was quite valuable to them.       The competition involved a Speed Round and a Problem-Solving Round.  We want to thank Mrs. Moisset and Ms. Hanson for their help, and also Mrs. Vaughan for driving the students to and from the competition.
