Preoperative lipreading scores (V condition) are marked X. Postoperative llpreading scores are marked O. Preoperative lipreading plus hearing scores (AV condition) are marked *. Postoperative AV scores are marked +. Single subject statistical analysis results are given for the V and AV conditions separately using the same codes as in Figure 1. The additional code “d” is used to indicate that the average postoperative AV score is significantly greater than the average postoperative score in the V condition.
