4. Main directions of scientific activity of the department of religious studies and cultural studies are:
Freedom of conscience, religion and law, state-confessional relations; Modern challenges and major trends in interfaith relations; Religious and philosophical traditions of the East; Features research and content analysis of religion as a social and cultural phenomenon; The study of cognitive and discursive practices in religious studies, religious philosophy and theology; Analysis of the various religious groups, the relationship of social groups of different faiths;

13. The Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies and the Department of Political Science works "Center of Religious Research and Expertise" (hands. Kurmanalieva AD).
The main objective of the Centre is to conduct scientific research, religious expertise on issues of religion and religious situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

14. The practical relevance of the Center for Religious Research and Expertise:
development of basic research as a basis for the creation of new knowledge, the formation and development of scientific schools and leading research teams in the most important areas of science; the growing influence of science to solve educational and training objectives, the preservation and strengthening of the base, defining the nature of science for the development of higher education; expansion of international scientific co-operation with institutions and organizations of foreign countries with the aim of entering into the world system of science and education and joint development of scientific products; participate in competitions in order to obtain grants for fundamental and applied research in the country and abroad; organization of round tables, conferences and symposia, the implementation of training, exchange of scientists, exhibitions and thematic meetings on contemporary religious processes; conduct religious expertise documents religious, spiritual (religious) educational programs, informational materials of religious content.
