4. English 3 Grimm’s Fairy Tales
Jacob Ludwig Carl Grimm is born January 4, 1785, and his brother Wilhelm Carl Grimm is born February 24, 1786.
Both brothers study law at the University of Marburg (1802 & 1803)
After the death of their mother in 1808, they both take a job at a library in order to support their younger siblings.
they publish a series of folktales (over 200).
Walt Disney takes some the Grimm tales and changes their content and endings to fit a more suitable audience.

Take a copy of “Grimm’s Fairy Tales: Cinderella” and read it.
These are a class set so please do not take them or write in them!
When you’re done, answer the following questions on a sheet of paper:
Which do you think is the better story: this version of "Cinderella" (basically the Grimms') or the Disney version? What makes it better or worse? 
Do you think everyone deserves what they get in this story? Why or why not?
What effect do you feel turning "Cinderella" into a family movie have on the original story? Why bother turning a fairy tale into a family movie in the first place (besides making money)? 
Do you believe you can really get something for nothing? Do you think that's what the poem is suggesting? Why or why not?
Why do you think that money doesn't automatically make everyone happy in "Cinderella"? What do you think the point of that message is?
