1 Without him – nothing! John 1:3-5 Gospel of john series #2
Grace Baptist church April 24, 2016

2 Remember the purpose of this gospel book?
It is clearly stated in John 20:30,31. And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. John wrote to prove that Jesus is God in the flesh- the very Son of God. “SON of GOD” expresses, not that Jesus is the offspring of God, but that He is the exact likeness and character of God - in the flesh. He is God the Son - God in flesh - God on earth – with the same DNA as His Father. The opening words of this Gospel introduce, not the earthly author, but the main character of the book- the Word of God- God in the flesh - incarnate.

3 John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

4 Last week we saw the Word- the Son of God in His attributes of:
