WELCOME Once you have found a seat, Please go to the referral coordination table and follow the directions to add your program’s class locations to the map. If your program is using the 3 or 4 session calendar, please sign up on the appropriate list

Resource hub lists classes based on information from class descriptions
The hub retrieves class information from CALIS EVERY night CLASS information CAN Be EDITED IN CALIS Class Management > class list > Class name the hub searches class name data for words that match answers to the questions. Instructions for writing searchable class descriptions here ( classes-with-calis/) advanced search link can search for your choice of term

Examples: If student goal is high school diploma, hub searches for “GED” or “EDP” in class descriptions If student goal is College, hub searches for “college” in class descriptions Etc. Please contact Jill Holloway for resource hub support

Goodwill assessment and referral service
Ask student if they would like to know About an option that might help them in class. If yes, explain powerpath. If still yes, Fill out a request for support and fax to goodwill Best if evaluation is scheduled at regular class time. Have A side room or semi-private space for meeting. First meeting 1-2 hours; follow up hr. Ex: If a student is repeating class, set powerpath up for the time when new class students are receiving orientation

Designee Training Will: At Programs, Designees Work To: Designees Communicate By: JUN - Outline RIDE goals for next year LD services. - Gather support requests for next year - If program is changing class format, work with staff ensure that new format is non-discriminatory and accessible. - Sharing support requests with RIDE staff/ LD Specialist. AUG / SEPT - Review Designee Role - Offer options for yearly ADA staff development - Verify physical accessibility using an ADA self-checklist, or verify that a previously completed checklist still applies. - Check that public notices of non-discrimination (and grievance procedures for programs with >50 employees) for students and staff are posted in appropriate locations. - Check that all public notices include the name and contact information of the current designee. - Check that program signage, handbook & orientation: - announce the location, purpose and entry requirements of classes. - show career paths through classes incl. transfer to other programs - include an up to date program schedule of intake & class sessions - Check that classes are accurately listed in CALIS / Resource Hub. - Sharing schedule and entry requirement information with other Designees. (Preparing to coordinate cross- program referral) OCT - Plan ADA related training for all staff. - Verify and help teachers document instructional accessibility. NOV - Ask instructors if they have students with specific support needs. - Requesting supports.

- Give an update on RIDE progress / new resources - Deliver info about other RI support systems. - Check that public notices of non-discrimination (and grievance procedures for programs with >50 employees) for students and staff are posted in appropriate locations. - Check that all public notices include the name and contact information of the current designee. - Check that there is a posted schedule including class start times. - Check that the CALIS class information has been updated - Ask instructors if they have specific support needs - Requesting supports. APR -Help Designees meet year-end goals. - Provide useful information - Complete and / or collect documentation of ADA related training for all staff Sharing feedback on / requests for future ADA staff training options. MAY Sharing data and support requests. As needed: - Orientation for new staff - Answering ADA related questions - Ensuring / documenting that persons with disabilities receive reasonable accommodations - Supporting struggling students to understand their choices for investigating possible disabilities. - Investigating ADA related complaints - Knowledge of program’s transition plan (when applicable) Calendar ctd.

What does the LD Specialist do?
Supports coordination between programs Trainings: Experience Dyslexia Oct 19 Differentiation and Universal Design tool Oct 25 Provides technical assistance: Attending meetings and contributing to discussion around developing program process Researching issues and answering questions that you don’t have time to assisting in brainstorming with staff around particular student cases

LD Specialist GOAL 5: Support coordination of physical resources in and between programs. GOAL 6: Follow up on recommendation to offer programs serving the lowest levels the opportunity to count NRS secondary outcomes. Support RIDE to create incentives for these classes or tutoring systems to exist. Work with programs and RIDE to define requirements for funding classrooms driven by non-traditional assessment in ABE and ESL at NRS levels 1,2 and 3. GOAL 7: Offer trainings to deepen the professional abilities of staff working with students with learning disabilities. GOAL 8: Provide LD support to all RIDE-funded adult education agencies including technical assistance for LD Designees and staff, and materials and resources for teachers. Develop and manage a quarterly technical assistance summary including trends, topic areas for questions and requested support, resources, etc.
