1 Mean Platelet Volume (MPV), Neutrophil-to Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) & Platelets-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR) In association With Cardiovascular Disease In Hemodialysis E Paschou1, E Gavriilaki2, E Tsotsiou1, V Mamakou3, A Kalaitzoglou2, N Sabanis1 1General Hospital of Edessa, Edessa, Greece 2Medical School, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece 3Dromokaiteio Hospital, Athens, Greece Objectives MPV is a well-known risk factor of cardiovascular disease (CVD) since large platelets produce more prothrombotic factors and aggregate more easily. Meanwhile, NLR and PLR have been recently identified as reliable inflammatory indicators. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship of these markers with CVD in hemodialysis patients. Methods Type of Study: Cross-sectional Population: patients in hemodialysis >3 months medical history of coronary artery disease (CAD), peripheral artery disease (PAD) stroke Candidate Risk Factors recorded: age gender traditional risk factors of CVD months under hemodialysis (MUH) the presence of central venus catheter (CVC) MPV, NLR and PLR were calculated The SPSS Version 22 was used for the statistical analysis CVD Results: 86 patients (62.8% men) / mean age CVD 68.6% CAD % PAD 61.6% stroke % MPV and NLR: elevated in patients with DM and CAD (p<0,05)] No correlation was observed between PLR and any of the above parameters. The existence of CVC was associated with increased NLR and MPV in older patients.  . DM nDM p value MPV 10.9 10.4 0. 24 NLR 5.3 4 0.004 MPV NLR DM CAD nCAD p value MPV 11 10.4 0. 008 NLR 5 4.1 0.05 DM CAD PAD stroke HP MPV 0.024 0.008 0.086 0.555 0.997 NLR 0.004 0.05 0.379 0.063 0.462 PLR 0.225 0.636 0.883 0.059 0.121 MPV NLR CAD Conclusions MPV and NLR are associated with CAD and DM, a relationship that implies a status of inflammation and endothelial dysfunction. PLR which depends on the count of platelets that are usually reduced in hemodialysis patients is not associated with CVD parameters
