1 Density

2 Sink or float? For this activity you will work in your table groups
You will be given 10 objects. You need to create 5 pairs For each pair you need to write down 3 observations and predict which one will sink and which one will float, then write your results You will be given 15 minutes for this activity

4 But first, Some important vocab
Matter: anything that has atoms, mass, and takes up space Mass: A measurement of the amount of matter (or stuff) in an object or liquid Volume: A measurement of how much physical space an object or liquid takes up.

5 Which one is more dense? Which square is more dense?

6 Which one is more dense? Now which one is more dense?

7 What is density? Density is a comparison of how much matter there is in a certain amount of space. To find the density of an object, we use a simple formula D=m/v

8 How do we find volume? To find the volume of a regular object you take the Length x width x height Length Height Width

9 x What is density? Don’t forget our units! Mass= grams (g)
Volume= cm3 or mL Density= g/ cm3 or g/mL Hint: 1 cm3= 1 mL Mass Density x Volume
