2. Now that our units are going on deck in the standby position they are being relied upon for the RIC function.
This does not replace the RIC function, but allows for the on deck/standby companies to be ready in the event of a mayday.

3. On Deck What resources are you bringing with you on deck?
Companies reporting to be On Deck must bring their RIC pack with them.
Consideration should be given for other tools and placing ground ladders
Keep in mind that you must still always have at least one firefighter that is not engaged in a task if they are the next ON DECK company.
The ground ladders and other tools may come as later ON DECK companies arrive.

4. The Drill For the SCBA quarterly don and doff your PPE and SCBA
Review and practice your emergency procedures.
Review your RIC pack and its contents and there location in your pack.
As a company simulate arriving to a fire and being assigned to go on deck.
Bring the equipment you would bring to the ON DECK position.
Have one of your personnel simulate running out of air and getting disoriented call a mayday and have the ON DECK company locate the firefighter and utilize your RIC Pack to trans fill the air.
Conduct the drill in a zero visibility environment (Utilize wax paper in the mask/training fog/flash hood covering mask.
