The students will identify the causes and results of the changing roles of women in the 1920’s by explaining the image of the flapper Announcement: Chapter 13 Test Next Tuesday Due: Chapter 13 Vocabulary on Wednesday Drill: Analyze the pie-charts on page 460 and answer the following 1. Between 1910 and 1920, which type of work registered the greatest increase? Which type of work registered the greatest decrease? 2. Which type of work in all three periods employed the most women? Which type of work employed the fewest? Motivation: Why do you think young people’s attitudes toward life differ from those of the preceding generation?

5 Independent Work Explain how the flapper symbolized youth rebellion. Be sure to include the actions that women who were considered flappers participated in an attempt to gain equality with men.
