Remember… Ignore the decimal points and multiply as usual...
Count how many total digits are on the right side of the decimal points in the factors you are multiplying... Place the decimal point in your product (answer) so there are this many digits to the right.

Step 1: Multiply 1.2 x you don’t need to line up the decimal or place values! 1.2 5.3 Reminder: We always multiply from right to left. 6 (3 x 2 = 6 ) We write down the unit, In this case 6, Under the 3

Step 6: Finally, we need to add the decimal point to our answer. 1.2 5.3 6 3 6 For the correct decimal placement in your answer, you count how many digits are to the right of the decimal in the (factors) actual problem. 1 1 (1 + 1 = 2) There will be two digits after the decimal point in the answer. Start at the right of the answer and move left that many spaces. .
