1 Focus of the TDC for the next three years (2017-20)
Focus is to enhance resilience at the farm level. Facilitating adoption of package of resilient technologies by a farmer To reach large number of households in the NICRA village, leading to Climate Resilient Village Farming system/ resource based targeting of resilient technologies from the basket of options (Dryland/ Irrigated/ Horticulture / animal based etc.) Effective use of knowledge generated/ infrastructure created built/ capacities in the village in the last 6 years Existing NICRA village and adjacent villages

2 Resource mapping of the village is the first step
Divide the village in to farming situations and cropping sequences Identify the resilient practices for each of the farming situation Spread the resilient practices in each of the farming situation Every household is to be covered with resilient practice Assess the impact of interventions and extent of resilience achieved

3 Targeting resilient practices for various farming situations in the village from the basket of options Farming system Crops /Cropping systems of the village Constraints for achieving resilience Proven Resilient practices which can be targeted Rainfed upland production system (80% area of the village) Bajra/sorg hum/gree n gram/ redgram- fallow, uneven distribution of rainfall, prolonged breaks during the monsoon season, shallow soils with low water retention, risk of drought spells In-situ moisture conservation ( compartmental bunding, ridge and furrow, BBF), Short duration Drought escaping cultivars of sorghum, bajra, green gram, foliar application of nutrients during dry spells, intercropping of bajra and redgram (2:1), redgram and green gram (1:4), integrated farming systems for rainfed area Rainfed upland production system with livestock Lack of assured fodder supply, little green fodder during the lean season Rainfed bajra and sorghum for fodder, conservation of green fodder as silage for use during the lean season, IFS with livestock component

4 Facilitating the spread of technologies in the village
Several low cost technologies can be spread in the village Resilient varieties, Intercropping systems, Sowing techniques, land configuration, High yielding fodder cultivar, DSR, etc. Seed bank and custom hiring centers holds key Convergence with department for water harvesting and use, livestock is required Greater awareness and capacity building is needed Use of communication technology for dissemination of information

5 Focus on science based interventions
Water availability based crop planning for maximizing returns Making use of the soil health cards information and correcting deficient nutrients Contingency plans-Technologies for contingency situations Cropping intensification and maximizing incomes PMFBY Agroadvisories

6 Emphasis on quantification of the interventions vis-à-vis the climatic event
The performance of the resilient practices are to be assessed in relation to the climatic event ( dry spell/ drought/ flood) Comparison with the farmers practice Effect of multiple interventions on crop yields and economic returns in various typologies The extent of resilience achieved Utilise Services of SRF for intensive data collection
