1 Intel Corporation, Apple
3GPP TSG-RAN WG4 Meeting #85 Reno, Nevada, USA, November 27 – December 1, 2017 Agenda: R4-17xxxxx WF on FR2 power class Intel Corporation, Apple

2 Background RAN4 has discussed the power class requirement definition for FR2 Views on the challenges associated with UE design were exchanged Views on the impact on network design were exchanged Views on the selection of a reference waveform for peak EIRP definition were exchanged

3 Agreements (1) The maximum EIRP value for the UE power class is defined for the DFT-s-OFDM full allocation waveform with the QPSK modulation and MPR=0, measured over 1 ms It is understood that MPR = 0 for the DFT-s-OFDM full allocation waveform with the QPSK modulation for the PA output power provided by companies in the UE power class derivation (slide #4) Handling of pi/2 BPSK with spectral shaping modulation UE support for pi/2 BPSK with spectral shaping is mandatory in Rel-15 The DFT-s-OFDM full allocation waveform with QPSK is the reference waveform with MPR=0 MPR requirements for waveforms that operate at higher output power can be defined with a negative value The UE Tx EVM requirement for pi/2 BPSK with spectral shaping can be reused from pi/2 BPSK The Pcmax requirement includes an additional term to account for pi/2 BPSK with spectral shaping MPR, if it is a negative value, in both the Pcmax_L and Pcmax_H terms

5 Agreements (2) To reduce the risk of adopting a peak EIRP core requirement which may result in high conformance failure rates of NR FR2 UEs undergoing certification, a proposal for the peak EIRP based on the nth percentile of all minimum peak EIRP proposed values among the companies in slide 4 is preferred The handheld UE peak EIRP requirement is defined according to Option 1: Minimum across all companies For 28 GHz min value = 20 dBm, for 39 GHz min value = dBm Option 2: 10th percentile of CDF of proposals For 28 GHz min value = dBm, for 39 GHz min value = dBm It is agreed to adopt Option 2
