2. What is a character foil?
Definition:
Any person who through contrast underscores the distinctive characteristics of another.
A foil is a character whose personality and attitude is opposite the personality and attitude of another character.
Because these characters contrast, each makes the personality of the other stand out.
Name for the bright metal placed under a jewel to increase its brilliance
However, foils also have at least one thing in common.
