2 Today we are going to learn:
Vocabulary connected to looking for jobs The difference between ‘look for’ and ‘find’

3 Look for = you don’t know where something is, it is a process.
I don’t know where my keys are. I am looking for them everywhere. Find = you already have what you wanted, it is a result. After 30 minutes I found my keys in a fridge.

4 What kind of jobs are there?
Temporary job Summer job Odd jobs Allie wants to find a temporary job for half a year to earn some extra money for a trip. Full time job Part time job Hourly paid job Sam found a great job, but he can only do part time because of his studies.

5 How do people look for jobs?
Look in newspapers and magazines Look at online ads Register on a job search website Post their resume online Ask friends Make a post on social networking websites The best job I’ve ever found was through a friend of a friend. My friend told me about a vacancy in the company.

6 What can you do to get the job you want?
Write a good resume/ CV Write a cover letter Be persistent

7 How can we prepare for a job interview?
Think about what you wear to the interview Don’t be late Be confident and believe in yourself Greet the interviewer with a smile Research the company before you come to an interview Do your best to relax and show your best side

8 What questions can the interviewer ask?
Tell me about your work experience Tell me about your educational background Why do you want to work here? Tell me about a time you were in a difficult situation and found a solution Where do you see yourself in five years’ time? What questions could you ask? How long is the working week? How many days off do I get? Are there any benefits? What is the salary? Do I get paid sick leave?

9 How did you get this job? I was doing a teaching course and my tutor said that he knows about a vacancy in the British Council. I wrote an with my CV expressing interest in the position. Then I was invited to a job interview. After the interview I got a call and they said they liked me and wanted me to work for them.
