God MUST come first in our lives! – Matthew 6:19-24
To lavish ourselves with good things and not be rich toward God is unacceptable! – Luke 12:13-21; 16:19-21, 25

The “love of money” is the root of all kinds of evil
Money itself is not evil – 1 Timothy 6:9-10
The “love of money” produces things in our lives, like selfishness, greed, envy, jealousy, lying, stealing, cheating, resentment, bitterness, James 4:1-3

6. We are Commanded to Give Generously
“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share”
1 Timothy 6: NIV

Giving is fundamental to Christianity
Giving is the practical application of the 2 Great Commandments – Matthew 22:36-40; Luke 10:25-37
Giving should be a natural response to God’s grace – Acts 2:44-45; 4:32-37

Giving is the ultimate test of our faith
It’s a demonstration of our trust in God – Luke 21:1-2; Corinthians 8:1-9; Malachi 3:10
It is the proof of our love for God – 1 John 3:16-18; Matt. 6:21
