In the previous section, we solved quadratic equations by graphing.
There are various other ways to solve quadratic equations. One way is to solve by factoring. To solve a quadratic equation by factoring: 1) set the equation equal to zero (collect all terms on one side of the equation) 2) completely factor the equation 3) set each factor equal to zero and solve

If given the roots to a quadratic equation, we can actually work backwards to determine what the equation is. Example: Write a quadratic equation with the roots -4 and 7.
