Touch screen Gohel Devang J. Roll no:6544 B.E. 5th C.E.

2 What Is Touchscreen? Touch screen is input device.
It is a computer display screen that is sensitive to human touch. Touch screen is a clear sheet of plastic with tiny sensors that is detect pressure either a finger tip or pointing device. It works like traditional mouse or keyboard.

3 History Of Touch Screen
The first “ Touch Sensor ” was developed by Dr.Sam Hurst in 1971 , called “ Elograph ” . The first true touch screen came on the scene in 1974. On February 24, 1994 the company officially changed its name from elographics to “ elo touchsystem “ .

5 How do touch screen come to know where you are touching ?!
Three basic systems are in the touch screen technology to recognize a person’s touch. Resistive system. Capacitive system. Surface acoustic wave system. Optical or infrared system. Near field imaging system.

6 The parts of Resistive system.
Scratch Resistant Coating Conductive Layer Separators Resistive Layer Glass Panel CRT

7 Resistive system The Resistive system consists of a normal glass panel that is covered with a conductive & a resistive metallic layer. It is generally more affordable but offer only 75% clarity and the layer can be damaged by sharp objects.

8 Capacitive system In the capacitive system , a layer that stores electrical charge is placed on the glass panel of monitor. It transmits almost 90% of the light from the monitor.

9 How it works….? Voltage is applied to each corner.
Electrodes are spread uniformly across the field. Touch of finger draws current from each side. Controller calculates position of the finger from the current.

10 Surface acoustic wave system.
On the monitor of a surface acoustic wave system , two transducers are placed along the x & y axis of the monitor’s glass plate. Its setup is usually most expensive.

11 Optical system These are optical touch screens that use an array of photodiodes on two adjacent screen edges with corresponding photo sensors on the opposite edges.

12 Application of touch screen
Medical imaging. Public information displays. Customers self-service. Computer based training.

13 Touch screen Touch screens are used in game world also like catherine wheel , rockets , hectic highway , honey bee & dasher dog etc.

14 Conclusion All five touch screen technologies have their own type of workings and clarity . Because of low price the capacitive touch screens are generally applied everywhere. Thus a touch screen’s advantage is its directness: what you touch , what you get ! Touch screen provides fast access.

15 So get ready to touch the perfection…!!
Its time to magic touch. So get ready to touch the perfection…!!
