4 Guidance for school age children: Who and where? (I)
Guidance Counsellors in Centres (or in School): Psychologists with further specialization in career counselling. Support for students in choosing the right path on an individual level: Counselling during several sessions, including testing (if needed), often accompanied by parent(s). N.B. not only for students but offering lifelong guidance

Specialized Teachers in School: Teachers with further training in education for “choice of occupation” Curriculum for students in lower secondary (age 12-15): In class: Preparing for the choice of education: getting to know the possibilities: VET and other options, finding an apprenticeship, how to apply, …

7 Data about Counselling: Statistics
Collecting a number of indicators on a national level. Earlier: Coordinating: confederation was financing and controlling the cantonal vocational guidance services. And wanted to know, what we do (e.g. what kind of service, number of clients, …) Now: Quality: cantons are in charge, on the national level our statistical data is for: - seeing trends / development - public relations: legislation, policy-makers - research

Data about services: individual counselling, collective offers, courses, information via and phone, … Data about counselling itself: - How many sessions, how many of them with psychological diagnostics - Main question (finding an apprenticeship, finding a path, re-entering the job market, …) - Main result (VET, school, university, internship, job search, …) Data about the client: - Age, gender, nationality, educational background, current job or educational situation

12 How to collect the data Annual collection via Excel-form at every canton Aggregation on national level: one person with a mandate by the KBSB/CDOPU Reporting back to cantons and on national convention

13 Revision of our data catalogue: why and how
After many years with the same catalogue a revision was inevitable – our data do not reflect the whole range of our services anymore (Hidden) Quality development: prioritizing and setting standards nationwide Broad discussion with a small work group with 6 delegates from different cantons (german, french and italian speaking / bigger and smaller cantons / …) Feedback from all cantons after first draft Implementation for 2019
