5.1 DESCRIBING METAL SUBSTANCES
Construction part tool of machine consist of : 1. Iron metal, such as : car chassis, wheel, cogwheel, pivot machine, etc. 2. Non iron metal such as : cushion block, metal etc. 3. Assembling materials non metal such as asbestos , rubber, clingrit, paper etc.
2
Iron metal (Fe) 1. Wrought iron iron with content c = 0%-0,5%
Kinds of iron : 1. Wrought iron iron with content c = 0%-0,5% easy malleable and cannot be hardened 2. Steel iron with content c = 0,5%-1,7% can be forged and gilded 3. Cast iron iron with content c =2,5%-6,67% easily poured (cast)
3
2. Steel has characteristics as follows :
1. Elastic and rough Can be forged and gilded uneasily corroded Can endure high heat > Often used to make automobile hull, steering wheel, clutch pedal, porsneleng
4
3. Cast Iron Produced from casting kitchen that has characteristics as follow : Rough, due to the high content of charcoal substance Fragile and cannot be forged Difficult to be welded Often used to make automobile hull, steering wheel, clutch pedal, porsneleng an so on.
5
4. Cast Steel The characteristics as follows : Can be forged Tougher Rougher than cast iron Cannot endure piled up burden Cannot endure back and forth burden
6
Cast steel mixed with other elements :
Cast steel + 12% Mangan (Mn) with aus characteristic, used for making railway tracks Cast steel + 0,4% Cilisium (Si) tough and rough Cast steel + 1% Mo and 1-4% Ni can enlarge pulling power and restrain high temperature Phosphor and sulphur cannot be mixed, because this will be fragile
7
5. Tin Originally coming from tin stone or tin gravel(Sn-O2)
Having melting point 232 C Its roughness and strength is very low It is used for soldering tin, cushion wrap, pipe drain and kitchen utensils
8
6. Lead Obtained from fusion of chemical compounds ; Sulfid Timbel (PbS) and PbCO3 by heating and melting. Having melting point 274 c Having rather soft character and bluish colored Used as cable wrap, water pipe wrap, storage battery cells, gun missile, and paint materials, etc
9
7. Aluminum Obtained from fusion of chemical compounds : Spaatz kali (K Al Si3 O8) Bauxite (Al O3 2H2O) Creole or Aluminum Nutrium Fluoride (Al F3NaF) Having harder character than timber and softer than zinc Having melting point 659 c Can endure air and cannot restrain soap, soda and acid It used to make household furnishings, motor machine and aero plane machine.
10
8. Brass Obtained from combination of copper and zinc (65%Cu+ 35%Zn)
Having yellowish red color Can endure acid and chemical Used to make kettle, gas and water drain, construction parts with light burden
