3. Naming and Numbering Configuration
PDMLink provides a variety of methods for naming and numbering objects in ICE. NASA ESMD CAD working group must determine best fit method
AutoNumber Driven (OOTB Configuration)
CAD Doc and/or Part numbers generated by WC
A 10 digit sequencential number OOTB
Can be configured to use constants and/or attributes in number
CAD Doc and Part name come from CAD file name or PTC Common Name (if used)
CAD Name Driven
CAD Doc and Part number comes from CAD file name
CAD Doc and Part name comes from CAD file name or Common Name (if used)
CAD Parameter Driven
CAD Doc and/or Part numbers come from CAD parameters
CAD Doc and Part name come from CAD parameters

7. Custom Methods Driven
The ProE Naming Service uses the Windchill service delegate mechanism to allow you to specify the following for the new CAD Document to be created:
• Set a number for the CAD Document
• Set a name for the CAD Document
This provides the flexibility to customize CAD naming and numbers, and in turn auto created part naming and numbering.
