1 the Cluster Active Archive
ESOC datasets for the Cluster Active Archive

2 CAA Action Items on ESOC Datasets

3 ESOC Archives ESOC datasets contain data as follows: Documents in pdf
Digital data in xls or txt Some datasets are based on a single file that is updated annually ESOC datasets in 35 categories 6 documentation categories of miscellaneous sets of documents These will be placed in the normal CAA document area 29 categories contains a number of similar files (based on a template converted into pdf, xls or txt) each group handled as a single dataset, so they end up to 29 datasets (per spacecraft) Each category requires a separate conversion pipeline

4 ESOC Archive: L1 (Reports and Technical Notes)
AR_Spacecraft Anomaly Reports CLU_AR-011 pdf CLU_AR-012 pdf ARTS_Ground Segment Anomalies and Observation Reports CLU-1019 pdf CLU-1020 pdf Monthly Reports CLUSTER_Monthly_MOR_April_2001 pdf CLUSTER_Monthly_MOR_August_2001 pdf Weekly Mission Operations Reports Cluster_MOR_no022_(week ) pdf Cluster_MOR_no023_(week ) pdf Monthly/weekly reports will be ingested as NON-CEF DATASETS Anomaly reports will be made available under Documentation/ESOC

5 ESOC Archive: Anomaly Reports
Timing of anomalies is non-trivial because it is not always clear when they started and ended, and most importantly, some of them are reoccurring Most likely user wants to find anomaly report according to other values than time Key path to an anomaly report is weekly reports where the anomalies are reported and discussed (and Anomaly Report Number is given): then one wishes to read the given anomaly report A simple xml table will be created for an access to anomaly reports (using the ESOC table underneath which shows the first few columns of their table)

6 ESOC Archive: L1 (Reports and Technical Notes)
Spacecraft System Technical Notes and Reports AGC Fluctuation Reports AGC 2001 and 2002 pdf AGC 2003 and 2004 pdf Cluster AGC WG final report_2003 pdf Cluster radio link disturbance pdf NAVITEC_2004_Noordwijk pdf AGC was not observed in (some occurred in 2005). It has reoccurred in recent years. At least a table with the occurrences shall be kept up to date. Related publications may be kept in the folder or moved to public download area (TBD). ALL THESE WILL APPEAR UNDER DOCUMENTATION Note: AGC fluctuation intervals will be taken out from the weekly reports for a digital AGC_Fluctuations dataset

10 Next pages show some examples of ESOC digital datasets

11 ESOC Archive: L2 (BIT ERROR COUNTS)
there is a single file covering all years and all s/c. It shall be explained (in the ICD) how the data are sampled and which correction was done: e.g. different sampling time (from AOS to AOS) and normalization to one word group. ESOC source file

12 ESOC Archive: L2 (SA Performance)
there is a single file covering all years and all s/c [only digital data]

13 ESOC Archive: L2 (Spacecraft Event Logs)
Three datasets are created although the input file includes several LOG sheets such as Raindance, CTU reboot, CTU/RTU switchovers, SSR anomalies, … Ci_CP_AUX_ESOC_EVENT_EXP CP>CAA_Parameter Experiment Power Sharing This dataset provides power sharing intervals for WEC and EDI Ci_CP_AUX_ESOC_EVENT_CTU_RTU CP>CAA_Parameter Spacecraft Event Log This dataset provides a list of all CTU and RTU switch-overs. The on-board computer is called the Central Terminal Unit (CTU). Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) is directly connected to the CTU and is responsible of distributing the commands and acquiring telemetry from the different experiments and subsystems on request by the CTU. Ci_CP_AUX_ESOC_EVENT_LOG CP>CAA_Parameter Spacecraft Event Log This dataset provides Spacecraft Event Log which includes all activities, which were not scheduled by the Mission Planning System, e.g. special operations requested by instrument teams or Engineers. It includes the detection of platform or payload anomalies and Out Of Limits (OOL) and their recovery.

14 ESOC Archive: L2 (SPO - Special Payload/Platform Operations)
poor information (e.g. no execution time) during first years; this was changed in later years. index file refers to the request “Special Operations Request”: to be used by the CAA to extract the start/stop interval of the SPOs and shall point to the SPOs, which contain the actual information what manual operation was performed.

15 ESOC Archive: L2 (TDA) The mode dataset is currently created from the AUX dataset (1-min resolution); the dataset is called TMMODE This is based on JSOC planning ESOC TDA dataset seems to give a better time resolution but unfortunately it does not represent the timing of the mode changes because subsystems and instruments are handled individually. Therefore the TDA datasets are not converted and provided

16 ESOC Archive: L2 (Eclipse)
• information given in two different formats and documents released only until 2005; new format given for years

17 New dataset: Eclipse Profiles
RUN ON 2008/10/14 AT 10:04:38 Z INPUT: EXPECTED SATELLITE ID = 1 INPUT: START TIME OF ECLIPSE SEARCH = 2008/12/28 00:00:00 INPUT: NUMBER OF HOURS TO SEARCH = 24 DETAILED PRINT OF ECLIPSE OF SUN BY MOON & EARTH ================================================ DISTANCE FROM (KM, NEGATIVE = INSIDE) VISIBLE TIME MOON PENUMBRA UMBRA EARTH PENUMBRA UMBRA FRACT. ================================================================================= 2008/12/28 0: 0: 0 START OF ECLIPSE SEARCH NO ECLIPSES 2008/12/28 15:11: 2008/12/28 15:12: 2008/12/28 15:13: 2008/12/28 15:14: 2008/12/28 15:15: 2008/12/28 15:16: 2008/12/28 15:45: 2008/12/28 15:46: 2008/12/28 15:47: 2008/12/28 15:48: It is the last column which is interesting as it tells the fraction of the sun

18 ESOC Archive: L2 (Manouvres)

19 ESOC Archive: L3 (Mission Planning Data)
These present the command sequences and are available until year 2011 after which a new format was adopted These are planned operations: OBRQ + antenna selection JSOC OBRQ contain the same information This dataset is not made available because TC history (full mode) will be provided and is more important Command history files show the actual executed operations, including e.g. JSOC planning and manual operations by SPOs and if they were successful Individual commands with their parameters Command history files contain the actually executed commands with the used parameters: TC history files are available on RDM; they have some binary information, some ascii

20 ESOC Archive: L3 (Mission Planning Data)

21 Command History Files (from SPEVAL)
The printout is made once a year (TBC), so Line number is a running number of command in the given year The file is saved as daily non-CEF files in order to keep the structure which helps reading the parameters If necessary, the dataset could be converted into CEF dataset where the last parameter gives all the parameters separated by semi-colon

22 ESOC Archive: L5 (Ground Segment Data)
Data recall log and Data gap analysis GAPS 2001 xls data gaps/Recalls are not needed; This is s/c parameter database and will be given only after the end of the mission DataBase Changes

23 ESOC Archive: L5 (Science Return)
Science Data Return SCIENCE_RETURN_0852 txt Science return ratio for frames and formats per PP (txt ) - not needed (The excel file (below) with the science data summary would be enough) If in the Science data return graph the annotation about the cause of the missing data (e.g. AR-xyz) would be moved into a comment column of the digital data sheet that would be enough. Single file for the whole mission Sheets “DATA_SUMMARY_year” contain average of four spacecraft. “All history data details” gives summary for each spacecraft plus spacecraft average “orbit_pp gives details for each planning period – is this needed Science data return summary Science Return from Oct 2001 to Apr 2005 xls

24 ESOC Archive: L5 (Science Return Details)
This will NOT be archived

25 ESOC Archive: L5 (Science Return Summary)
This will BE archived
