1 LEVEL CONTROL USING ULTRASONIC
(CHENNAI PETROLEUM CORPORATION LIMITED) INTERNAL GUIDE MS. VIJAYALAKSHMI (LECTURER OF ICE DEPARTMENT) EXTERNAL GUIDE MR. GOWTHAMAN MR. SARAVANAN (DESIGN ENGINEER CPCL)

2 ABOUT CPCL Cpcl extracts various products from crude oil
like lpg, petrol, asphalt, kerosine, naptha, etc., nearly 200 by-products. we were completed our project in the oms department cpcl.

3 TOTAL PROCESS PLC ASPHALT STORAGE FROM TANK REACTOR TEMPERTURE COIL
LEVEL SENSOR TEMP SENSOR ASPHALT FROM REACTOR STORAGE TANK BYE PASS VALUE TRANSPORTATION TO VARIOUS PLACES TEMPERTURE COIL VALUE STREAM FROM BOILER

4 WORK DONE IN THE OMS DEPARTMENT
Level measurement in the storage tank using ultrasonic Temperature measurement in the storage tank Inputs are given to the plc, and the conditions are checked to transport the asphalt corresponding values are controlled using plc

5 BASIC PRINCIPLE OF ULTRASONIC
Ultrasonic Transmitter Transmits The High Frequency Sound Energy Corresponding To The Applied Electrical Energy. The Sound Waves Are Incident On The Target Surface And Part Of The Wave Reflected.

6 BASIC PRINCIPLE OF ULTRASONIC
The Reflected Waves Are Received By Ultrasonic Receiver. By Measuring The Time Between Transmitting And Receiving The Ultrasonic Wave We Can Calculate The Distance Between The Transmitter And Target

10 Thermocouple -- A Device Consisting Of
Two Dissimilar Conductors With Their Ends Connected Together. When The Two Junctions Are At Different Temperatures, A Small Voltage Is Generated.

12 BASIC CONNECTION FOR THERMOCOUPLE
OPERATION

13 PROGRAMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER
We Are Using Omron Plc, It Consists Of 6 Inputs & 4 Outputs Among That 2 Analog Inputs And 4 Digital Inputs We Are Using The Two Analog Inputs To Control The Corresponding Valve

14 FLOW CHART TEMPERATURE COIL VALUE Temperature sensor Temp <120o c
no Temp <120o c no Temp <100o c yes yes Value Fully closed Value fully open Value open 50%

15 FLOW CHART TRANSPORT CONTROL VALUE LEVEL SENSOR LEVEL < 20% TEMP.,
yes LEVEL < 20% no TEMP., COIL VALUES OPENED ALL THE VALUES CLOSED LEVEL < 80% LEVEL = 80%

16 TEMP < 100o c 100o c< Temp <120o c BYE PASS VALUE OPEN
TRANSPORT VALUE OPEN FOR 40% TRANSPORTATION BYE PASS VALUE OPEN

17 FUTURE EXPANSION Two Or More Tanks Can Be Connected Parallel To
Monitoring Section To Avoid Usage Of More Wiring Using DCS We Are Able To Control The Various Tanks From The Remote Control Room

18 CONCLUSION This Project Is Done To Avoid The Loss
Of Asphalt From The Reactor, And Implemented Successfully In Cpcl
