How do we make regular verbs in the past simple?
We add ‘ed’ to regular verbs in the past simple.
Example:
Last night I watched television.
If a verb ends in ‘e’ we add ‘d’.
The father tied his daughter’s shoelace.
If a verb ends in a vowel + ‘y’ we drop the ‘y’ and add ‘ied’.
The boy cried after the basketball match.

We use the past simple for an action that happened in the past and is finished.
