Label a diagram of the structure of the leaf. Tabulate structure to function for parts of the leaf. Silver Summarise how a leaf is adapted to photosynthesis in terms of obtaining reactants and releasing products. Gold Summarise how a leaf is adapted for photosynthesis and suggest how specific leaves/plants are adapted for photosynthesis e.g. rainforest leaves, cacti.

Practical Paint a thin layer of clear nail varnish onto the underside of the leaf. Complete the Task whilst you wait for the leaf to dry After 10 minutes carefully peel off the nail varnish and place on a slide. Carefully lift the microscope onto the desk by the neck. Transfer the slide to the microscope. Move the low power (x4) lens into position. Move the stage so that it is as close as possible to the lens. Look down the microscope and bring the nail varnish into focus. Look for impressions of stomata, guard cells and cells of the lower epidermis If time, draw a diagram of the guard cells and stomata
