Look at your paper. What shape is it?
Turn the paper so that the shortest side is parallel to your body.
Fold the paper so that the fold line is parallel to the short side of the rectangle.

2. Geometry Origami Puppet
Take one of the long unfolded edges and fold it up so that it meets the folded edge.
Unfold. You should now have a fold line that is parallel to both long sides of your rectangle.

Flip your paper over and repeat on the other side. (Fold the unfolded edge up to the folded edge, then unfold.)

Take a vertex from the open side and fold it up to meet the fold line.
Repeat with the other vertex from the open side.

Do you see the trapezoid?

Fold up the trapezoid so that the short parallel side meets the folded edge of the rectangle.

Turn your paper over. The folded edge should still be at the top.

Fold each vertex of the rectangle down so that it meets the center fold line.

You should now have 2 trapezoids that are a reflection of each other.
Fold the bottom trapezoid up so that it meets the top trapezoid.

10. Geometry Origami Puppet
A trapezoid has 1 pair of parallel sides. In the center of the long parallel side, make a cut that is about 1 centimeter long. (Cut both layers.)

11. Geometry Origami Puppet
Take the right side of the edge you just cut and fold it up so that it makes a triangle. (Fold just 1 layer.)
Repeat with the left side.

12. Geometry Origami Puppet
Turn the paper over and repeat on the other side.

13. Geometry Origami Puppet
Open the trapezoid along the long parallel side.

14. Geometry Origami Puppet
When you begin to fold it open, the sides will begin to form a mouth. Allow the mouth to fold down and smooth out any bumps.
