2 Henry Moore Lived 1898 – 1986 7th of 8 children! Father: coal miner
Decided to become a sculptor in elementary school Parents wanted him to be a teacher English sculptor Studied in England During these years Moore began carving in wood and modeling clay, and he consciously decided to become a sculptor after hearing of Michelangelo's achievements at the age of eleven.
