The team will actively support children, young people, and caregivers to successfully access services, supports and key relationships. Teams will emphasize natural and community supports that are the most normative and enduring. Services that require payment will be seen as temporary and not as a basis for lifelong relationships.

8. A Key Concept
When working with families a key concept is to build self-sufficiency. The family has to have the ability to locate, access, and use their support system to ensure the young person’s safety and meet his/her life needs while involved with the agency but especially afterward.
A major component of creating self-sufficiency is assisting the family in building their capacity to monitor their efforts to implement the plans they created and their progress.
