A Key Concept When working with families a key concept is to build self-sufficiency. The family has to have the ability to locate, access, and use their support system to ensure the young person’s safety and meet his/her life needs while involved with the agency but especially afterward. A major component of creating self-sufficiency is assisting the family in building their capacity to monitor their efforts to implement the plans they created and their progress.
