Mrs. DiLauro Academic Writing
2
What is imagery? Imagery is the use of sensory language (sight, smell, taste, touch, sound) in order to paint a clear, powerful and interesting picture. Great word choices are CRUCIAL in terms of creating a great sense of imagery for a reader.

Mrs. D.’s Imagery Writing
There is a free flowing brook cascading down the steps of the mountain. The wind breathes through the densely packed evergreens, and the sun bursts forth from the clouds in a dazzling gold display. Silver clouds coat the sky in an inverted blanket, and moss grows wild on every exposed rock, its deep emerald carpet smooth and wet to the touch. Everything smells like spring, from the raw dirt to the mist of water drifting up into the air. The only other sound besides the water are the long howls of the wild wolves hiding in the trees.
