Fig. 2 Multivariate Cox regression analysis to evaluate the association between the incidence of cardiac events (dependent variable) and alpha linolenic acid intake of type 2 diabetes patients; patients were divided according to the quartiles of intake of this nutrient: ≤0.6% of energy = blue line; 0.61–0.86% of energy = green line; 0.87–1.24% of energy = yellow line; and >1.25% of energy = purple line. The analysis was adjusted for age, gender, duration of diabetes, smoking, compliance with WDR, using hypolipidemic agents, and presence of hypertension and diabetic nephropathy. P = 0.006.
