The writing of realism is exactly what it sounds like. It pays attention to the detail and an effort to replicate the true nature of reality in a way that novelists had ever attempted. Realism refers to the attempt to represent familiar and everyday life situations.
• The stories, or plots, were simple and were secondary characters. The characters tended to be from the lower or middle class and spoke as people really did.
